32' Cheoy Lee Alden 32 MS '71 "Segue"
Designed by John G. Alden and built in solid fiberglass, the Alden 32 MS is a true classic that sails very well despite the motorsailer name. SEGUE is remarkably well-preserved with many upgrades done over the years. The huge cockpit combined with the nearly full-beam pilothouse and raised deck forward result in a boat that feels more like forty feet when you are aboard. These boats make wonderful cruisers.

Accommodations

The unique and graceful design of the Alden 32 allows for an unusually large cockpit for a boat of this size. With the tiller folded up there is room to host a party or set up a table for outdoor dining.

Stepping into the light and airy pilothouse, the galley runs the length of the port side. There is a 3-burner propane range/oven, nice deep sink and built-in refrigerator/freezer. Nice Corian countertops and newer fixtures.

Across from the galley there is a large teak table with comfortable seating and extra storage underneath in teak drawers and lockers. The inside steering station is just forward of the table. The inside helm is well equipped with wheel, compass, VHF radio and Raymarine navigation electronics. (The radar dome and GPS antenna still need to be reinstalled as they were disassembled when the boat was trucked down from the Seattle area). The pilothouse has full 360-degree visibility making the Alden 32 one of the very best pilothouse sailboat designs.

Continuing forward and down a couple of steps, the versatile lower cabin can be set up in different ways with fold up bunks and a pull-out double berth. It can be a large master stateroom, a bunkroom with four single berths, or just a comfortable lounge area. There is a bulkhead mounted diesel heater to keep the boat warm and dry when cruising in cooler climates.

Through the doorway forward there is a good-sized private head compartment complete with a vanity sink and Corian countertop. There are opening ports on both sides and an overhead hatch for plenty of light and ventilation.

All the way forward through a large access door is a huge chain locker with room for extra storage.
