Ugly Johns, commonly referred to as "Uglys", was established in 1974 and is proudly family owned and operated.
Our rich history in the boating world started when, John first made his mark in the drag racing world, running well over 150 MPH in his blown fuel flat bottom boats in 1/4 mile runs. His undefeated record made him a force to be reckoned with, setting 3 world records, in the 70's and 80's and simply making him known as a winner.
As we all know, everyone likes a winner.
In 1986 Ugly Johns and its winning attitude expanded into the marina side of the boating industry, with its first acquisition, on Keystone Lake. Since then, Uglys Johns has expanded with purchases of 2 more marinas, one on Grand Lake in Oklahoma and one on Beaver Lake in Arkansas.
The Grand Lake operations serves as the Ugly Johns headquarters and the flagship store, selling Cruisers, Prestige and Jeanneau Yachts, along with Nautique and Supreme Tow Boats and Monterey Sport Boats.
Uglys is known for its "we stock boats, not just brochures and pictures" approach, which makes us the premier destination in the Midwest for boat buyers and sellers alike.
