Nancy Ellen is a classic working boat. Built in the 1920's with a three-foot draft, she could navigate the shallow waters of the Core Sound. It was those waters, from the deck of that boat, that commercial fisherman Charles Smith of Atlantic fished more than 35 years ago.
Nancy Ellen is not used for fishing any more. Over the past 8 years this unique vessel has been restored, renovated and changed from her hard working functional layout to some comfortable upgrades.
This boat originally had a pilot house far forward. On deck, there were some rearrangements. . A pilot house was built farther aft and a few steps down from the bridge, is a galley. |What used to be the pilot house was hatched over and down below are two single bunks, one that fold away during the day. The galley occupies the area where fish were once held. You are going to like this sturdy vessel and the character that exudes from her. This is a one of a kind vessel that is sure to impress!
The Nancy Ellen has a Gray Marine Diesel which is said to have come from a landing craft used in WWII. The motor was installed in the boat in the 1970's. The engine still works well and pushes the boat at around 8 knots.
Come take a cruise back in time... Very nice!
