Catalina purchased Morgan Yachts in 1984. Morgan was famous for building some of the most robust and most successful cruising yachts in the world. To commemorate the marriage of these two venerable companies, the Catalina Morgan 440 was created.
The 440 combines the rugged offshore features of Morgan with the comfort, ergonomics and style of a Catalina. In order to fully enjoy the view in the 440, the main cabin sole is raised to provide great visibility from the large, wide, cabin windows.
All cruisers want speed under sail, easy motion and sure, predictable handling characteristics. The hull form of the 440 is conservative and sea-kindly and designed not to pound when going to weather or powering into seas. Offering the stability of a very low center of gravity, the 440 hull is stiff and comfortable. Representing the ideal cruising shape, the stem is raked to prevent damage when deploying or retrieving the anchor. The additional flare and buoyancy forward means dryer decks.

The Catalina Morgan 440 Deck Salon cruisers comes with a 2 stateroom, 2 head and a unique Storage Compartment that can be accessed from the Cockpit or from the aft cabin.
All the way forward is the master stateroom featuring a centerline queen with inner spring mattress and plenty of storage underneath. Teak shelves line the hull and there is a cedar lined hanging locker and drawers. There is also a vanity with seat and a private entrance to the head. The master head features a separate shower stall with folding tempered glass door, electric head, stainless steel sink.
The raised main salon has a very light and airy feel to it thanks to the deck salon configuration. To starboard is a U-shaped salon dining table with seating for six. The teak table can fold up into a smaller size when not in use and dropped to make another berth. There is ample storage behind and underneath the cushions. To port is a unique sofa arrangement that converts into two recliners. The upholstery is Brisa Ultraleather in a cream color and the floor a composite teak and holly. Built into the headliner there is a 17' fold down flat panel TV with remote DVD and marine antenna.
Aft of the recliners is the navigation station with opening chart table and sliding chair.
The spacious Galley is opposite the nav station and features ample counter space, storage, double sinks, and a refrigerator and separate freezer.
The sole of the main salon has been raised to allow the essential machinery of the 75 hp Yanmar diesel engine and the Fischer Panda 8kw generator to be kept low thus aiding the center of gravity.
The guest head is just aft of the nav station and features an electric toilet, vanity, mirror, stainless steel sink and plenty of storage. The head can be entered from the main salon or from the aft stateroom.
The aft stateroom features a large double bed with inner spring mattress, shelves and a hanging locker.
To starboard is a workroom/storage area that opens to the cockpit. There is room for an optional washer/dryer in a pre-built cabinet, handy shelving runs aft to a large storage area around the quadrant.
