Boat Description

Stock #068631 -

Take a look at this lovely 1961 CENTURY CORSAIR........only 131 of these classic beauties were ever manufactured. No doubt owning one of these rare boats in American history would give you special bragging rights.

A friend of the owner's family, purchased this boat from CENTURY in 1961, and remained a neighbor in the Texas oil business. A family treasure, the boat went into storage in 1986. The current owner purchased the boat from the friend's estate in 2004.

The owner contracted with a well-known, Austin area wood boat restoration specialist a few years ago. The restoration was completed a year later. When restored, there was no rotting wood found in the boat which indicated the preservative care this boat had received.

As you can see from the pictures and video, the upholstery is white with red trim like the original. The new vinyls were purchased directly from CENTURY and display the custom CENTURY logos. All the re-chromed metals shine like new.

The engine was brought back to its greatness by local a local mechanic shop. I personally spoke to the mechanic who described the work he performed. All the peripheral items ( fuel, oil and gas ) pumps were replaced. All hoses and belts were replaced. The fuel tank was flushed and new fuel lines installed. The twin CARTER 2bbl carbs were rebuilt also. The Tachometer was rebuilt by a specialty shop in New Jersey. This was at the time of the Jersey hurricane. Unfortunately, the Tachometer "adapter drive" was lost and the Tachometer was returned missing this one component. As a result of my conversation, the mechanic said he would contact the Tack-rebuild shop and ask of that missing component could be replaced. It may also be available from other sources. Though there is not an hour meter on the boat, the owner states there are "0" hours in the water since the engine was worked on.

In December 2012, the RUDDER and Bronze Prop were re-worked and are In really nice condition.
The owner has the original CENTURY flag which the new purchaser will be able to proudly display.

The trailer was custom made from oil field pipe, so it is the original trailer from 1961, and has the name "Forrest Robertson" (original owner) painted on the pipe.

The owner retains all original documents including telegrams from the manufacturer to Mr. Forrest Robertson, who purchased it in 1961 for $2,724.00 (retail price was $3,710.00 in 1961).
