General Description

Of the 41' Hatteras convertible models built in this model's run from 1986 to 1991, this hull has many of the preferred options available including the 535hp 6v92 which allow a reasonable 25 knot cruising speed and solid sea keeping qualities. This layout with the galley up and forward to starboard makes for more comfortable salon seating. Hatteras teak interiors had set the standard for all convertible builders during this time period. The walk-around double berth forward with head entry door is comfortable and accommodating. A couple of closets and several large drawers afford good storage for staying aboard. The guest stateroom has upper lower berths and a nice closet also. All three berths have new mattresses.

Set up for cruising or fishing, there is a walk-through transom door to a fiberglass non-skid cockpit deck and retractable cockpit shade. For fishing days, there is a teak 4-rod Release rocket launcher and just drop down the pair of double-spreader Rupp outriggers. There is an underdeck fish box and tackle center forward with cockpit sink. Safe passage to the foredeck is assisted by her full bow and deckhouse railings. There is a practical anchoring system with rebuilt electric windlass, fiberglass pulpit with CQR 45-pound anchor and rode.

The previous boat owner had primarily enjoyed his boat when anchoring up for the weekend. Since his destinations were usually short distances, the main engines have remarkably low hours (791 per hour meter). The Onan generator has higher hours due to its operating through most of the anchored times and in 2021 the power end of the genset was rebuilt. Although somewhat lightly equipped this Hatteras, with its extensive updating over the past 18 months, could easily become a great choice for a cruising couple or small family. Details of the upgrade period are stated more completely on the following spec sheet.

Salon and Galley

Entering the salon from the boat cockpit up two steps through the hinged door with window, the open deckhouse area has a long settee the full length of the portside and L-shaped settee to the starboard side aft. Just ahead is the galley area with wood-look Formica countertop, a Magic Chef under counter refrigerator/freezer (new), a two-burner electric stovetop, and above a Sharp Carousel microwave/convection oven. The countertop lifts up outboard hiding a brushed stainless basin sink with new faucet, soap dispenser, plus a three-bottle bar storage compartment. The lower cabinet contains 4 drawers and an under the sink cabinet. Above next to the microwave is a tambour sliding door with storage shelves and above three hinged storage compartments. The windows are treated with roll down natural woven wood shades. The side deckhouse window can slide open and the tracks have been cleaned and exterior of the frames painted. The salon has a digital A/C thermostat by the entry door. To the portside forward is a teak sliding door cabinet which formerly housed a TV, wiring is intact. This space has now been used for a new Dometic salon A/C unit with turbo fan blower. There is still room to possibly add a flat panel TV if desired. The outboard sides of the salon have soffits with down spot lighting which are controlled on a dimmer switch. Both settees are new and covered with a light gray ultra-suede, plus the new bound-edge textured carpeting is a sand color. Center companionway steps lead down forward to the staterooms.

Staterooms and Head

At the base of the steps to starboard is the Guest stateroom with upper-lower twin berths with reading lights and teak bed rails. A hull side opening portlight (opaque) gives some natural lighting and ventilation if needed. A good-sized, full-length teak closet is forward, drawers beneath the lower bunk, a full-length mirror on the back of the teak door, and a digital thermostat for the new A/C unit. There are off-white vinyl wallcoverings and a carpeted sole.

Across the hall is the teak entry door to the Head , with white solid surface vanity top and molded sink with new faucet. The outboard above the counter is all mirror with a slide opening medicine cabinet. The toilet is a brand new fresh water Techma and there is a holding tank level indicator with a key-lock for security of the empty tank operation. A switch for an exhaust fan is on the mirror just above. A separate shower compartment with clear plexiglass framed with aluminum has a molded seat, opening hullside (opaque) portlight, and new wand style shower fixture. There is a toilet operation panel and below a holding tank level indicator unit with key and power button (all new). New Amtico laminate teak and holly sole and a second door which leads into the master stateroom.

All the way forward is the Master Stateroom with teak cabinetry, closets, doors, bed rails, and trim. A walk-around, centerline, queen berth has a new mattress. The newly re-upholstered headboard and side panels are done in an Ivory padded vinyl. There are bedstands to either side of the bed. Above the forward bulkhead is mirrored with a framed print in the center mounted on the door which opens into the anchor locker. An opening overhead deck hatch (solid) can provide ventilation or emergency egress if needed, plus two hull side opening portlights (opaque) to either side. Two drawers and a lower cabinet are on both sides of the berth and a teak hanging lockers are on both sides aft as well. A small TV cabinet is above on the starboard side and on the shelf to the portside is a decorative 110v table lamp nearby the A/C digital thermostat. This stateroom also has a dedicated, new Dometic reverse-cycle A/C unit. The sole is carpeted and there is a private entry door to the head.

All three mattresses are new with Sunbrella covers on the bunk mattresses. All the carpeting throughout the vessel is new. Most of the 12v DC lighting has been replaced with LEDs. With the new A/C systems and ducting, replacement of all plumbing and head hoses, plus overall refreshing of all softgoods - this boat has virtually no odors or issues that are common in Hatteras vessel of this era.
