Cats Paws is an Island Packet 44, one of the companys largest and most luxurious aft cockpit designs. The M aster Stateroom is forward, featuring an offset double berth with cedar-lined drawers under, and stowage lockers and teak shelves outboard to starboard. To port is a large cedar-lined hanging locker with an interior shelf and a teak bureau with mirrored vanity and seat. There are privacy doors to both the head and the salon.The forward head, which has been customized to allow the option to use part of it as a walk-in closet by the clever addition of a removable S/S bar, has a stall shower, teak seat, electric flush toilet, large wrap around vanity with polished S/S sink and hot/cold pressured water. Next aft is the main salon with an angled L-shaped pull-out double settee to starboard. Two angled seats with a custom inlaid coffee table are to port (convertible to a bunk with a filler cushion). There is abundant stowage behind and under port and starboard settees, cabinets and shelves. The deluxe dining table stows upright against the forward starboard bulkhead, with shelves behind for liquor and wine bottles and glasses; it can be lowered and extended with a custom filler to seat six comfortably. Aft of the starboard settee is the Navigation Station equipped with a large table with a chart storage tray, drawer, nav light, generous nav/electronics cabinets with master AC/DC panels, built-in computer screen and an upholstered seat with stowage under. Access to the wet locker is mid-line at the inboard side of the Nav Station. The Galley, described elsewhere, is next aft to starboard. The aft head is across to port from the galley. The head features a bathtub/stall shower with curtain on track, a folding teak seat and wrap around vanity with polished S/S sink as well as ample cabinets and stowage outboard. The head is electric, there is pressured hot/cold water and two doors--one to the salon, the other to the Aft Stateroom which contains a large double berth with a full length teak shelf outboard, stowage locker under and a dressing seat. T he stateroom contains a generous cedar-lined hanging locker, bureau with shelf over and four opening portlights. Easy access to the entire engine and related equipment is provided with front, side and aft panels. A molded engine bed with drip pan combine with mechanical, electrical and plumbing detail to make the machinery space both attractive and functional. All tankage is centrally located under the cabin sole adding to the overall stability of the yacht as well as maximizing conveniently located storage space. T hroughout the interior of Cats Paws, there is a molded fiberglass interior headliner with textured finish and teak trim; teak bulkheads, cabinetry and furniture with satin finish varnish; and teak louvered cabin and locker drawers with safety latches. A molded slip-resistant sole is provided in the galley, companionway, nav and head areas for sure footing, while the salon and staterooms have varnished teak and holly soles. Overhead teak hand rails add to security and safety below. Ventilation is provided by sixteen opening ports with screens, eight deck hatches, three Dorade type ventilators and three solar vents.

The huge galley has a wrap-around design with large storage cabinets and drawers; an alcove with a General Electric Microwave; premium solid color-core laminate surfaces; premium Corian granite pattern trim and sea rails on all edges. Two top-loading refers, both cold plate cooled--a generator-driven Crosby 110V unit and a 2013 engine-driven Sea Frost unit; a gimbaled 3-burner S/S Princess LPG stove with oven; cutting board cover; S/S guard rail with harness hooks; pot and pan locker under. Double S/S sink with polished finish; hot/cold pressure water tap with Brita water filter; fresh water manual pump; retractable spray unit. Recessed trash basket; teak paper towel holder; soap shelf; teak dish rack and cutlery drawers.

Deck and Hull

Cats Paws, like all Island Packets, is robustly built--100% hand laid fiberglass construction throughout with ISO/NPG type gel coat for durability, plus Island Packets exclusive PolyClad bottom gel coat system which came with a 10 year limited warranty; hull molded in one piece with extra strong triaxial glass, unified with an engineered molded interior grid structure; and a deck laminate cored with advanced PolyCore, Island Packets exclusive tough microsphere and resin matrix which is impervious to rot and provides maximum resistance to delamination. The deck is attached to an integrally molded hull flange with bolts, lock nuts and urethane adhesive sealant and the deck hardware is bolted with aluminum backup plates. Contoured cockpit seats 8 1/2 long, coaming storage boxes and bins, seat hatches with hasps and locks, and molded helm seat with cushion and backrest provide comfort and security whether under sail or at anchor. Island Packets exclusive Full Foil Keel adds numerous benefits for the cruising sailor: superior protection from damage or fouling for both rudder and prop, immensely strong integral keel and hull construction, and moderate draft with exceptional stability providing the easy motion and steering qualities unique to a long keel configuration.
