From 1975 to 1984, Oy Nautor AM in Pietarsaari, Finland, built 70 of these magnificent sailing yachts. Founded in 1966, Nautors goal was to produce yachts capable of both cruising and racing by using a high-thickness fiberglass mould. At the heart of the concept was quality, the core focus of Nautors production process throughout its history. Beginning production in 1975 and designed by Sparkman Stephens, it was the hull design of the SWAN 47 that positioned Swan as the synonymous of quality and elegance, of enduring reliability and of lines which seems to challenge the laws of time.

AEOLUS was launched in 1981, and is hull number 61 of the 70 classic Swan 47s built. One of the tall rig cutter versions, she responds to the lightest puff, and with a removable inner forestay, tacking in light winds is a breeze. This boat has a 7.5 knot hull speed, and with 33,000 pounds of momentum, she really does become that racer. And when the wind is blowing, she really comes alive. With a jiffy reefing system on the main, Harken furling 130 foresail, and cutter staysail, she cuts through the waves with comfort and ease, even at speeds approaching ten knots.

This boat is fully outfitted with electronic and safety equipment for long distance cruising. A must see!
