From the Scout Boats Website:

For nearly three decades, weve evolved. From a company no one ever heard of to now one of the most respected brands in the industry. What started as a driven mans passion to build a better boat in a little brick building (that was ultimately destroyed by Hurricane Hugo in 1989)grew to a humble company that chipped away at the competitionand has steadily grown into one of the most sought after boats in the world..

How do we do it? Hard work, determination, and a passion that has never dimmed, shared across our entire Scout family, we believe that there has to be a better way. And the acceptance that better, usually means working even harder. Were more than a pretty picture in a magazine. Were a leader that believes the same conveniences, comforts and technology you enjoy in your home, your automobile, your everyday life, should also be enjoyed on the water.

Its about how you feel in our models. How they perform and respond at your fingertips. How exhilarating the ride can be. Its about doing things right the first time, every time. Its about having the very best fit and finish, strength-to-weight, performance, looks and ownership value we can possibly provide to each and every one of our loyal customers.

From my Scout Family to yours,

Steve Potts

Manufacturer Provided Description and Power Boat Guide Description

Scout Boats

Scout answered its owners call for a larger fishing machine with the revolutionary and rugged Scout 280 Abaco. The innovative Scout-Strata-Mount outboard engine mounting system commands unsurpassed structural strength. The 280 Abaco boasts the largest raised pilot station in her pack featuring a fully instrumented helm station, seating for four, with two captains chairs that convert to leaning posts. Fishing features include a 35-gallon lighted livewell, an enormous fighting deck, and extra-large fishboxes. Hunters find refuge in the 280 Abacos den, which offers a spacious V-berth, a nicely appointed galley, and a fully enclosed head with shower.

Power Boat Guide

Scout has been building small fishing boats since 1990 and the Abaco 280, at the time of her introduction, was the companys first try at a model larger than 20 feet. Built on a beamy deep-V hull, the graceful styling of the Abaco gives her the appearance of a semicustom boat. Theres bench seating for four and two captains chairs (which convert to leaning posts) on the raised helm deck, and cockpit amenities include a 35-gallon lighted live well, two large in-deck fish boxes, bait prep center, and under-gunwale rod storage......
