As you step aboard Gaia, things just seem different. It might be the warmth of her teak, her palatial cockpit, or the jauntiness of her bowsprit as you look forward to survey her lines. She is perfectly set up as a comfortable, spacious crusing yacht - ready to go with amenities for your long weekend or offshore adventure. Take a wander forward onto her bowsprit, turn around and look back. You will realize this is one of the best seats in the house just to take it all in when you are underway, especially if you have been joined by a dolphin or two on your journey.

Gaia is a well loved and cared for Whitby - Brewer 42. She is a 42 foot Center Cockpit Staysail Ketch, built in Canada in 1987 and one of the last two Whitby - Brewer's built in Whitby Ontario. In fact, with Gaia's ample space, storage and appointments she would make an ideal floating home.
Gaia has had only two owners in her life; both have kept her in meticulous condition. She has seen an exceptional level of care, especially in the latter years of her life from her very dedicated present owner. Gaia has had many high-quality upgrades over the last few years, much of it in the last year. She has been meticulously maintained from her masthead to her through-hulls. Many of her core systems are new, all installation and refit work has been completed with the highest level of professionalism. Gaia is turn-key ready for the sailor just itching to drop the lines. This wonderful yacht has two beautiful cabins, both with ensuite heads. Her large salon sports new upholstery, stainless steel opening ports throughout and several hatches for an abundance of light and ventilation. Gaia has a large hard-top that protects the cockpit and provides shade; or with easy access via her two ladder-type aft stanchions becomes the ultimate sun pad. Her LED lighted cockpit is perfect for evening gatherings on the hook or at the dock. ??With her shoal draft hull design, split rig, manageable sail system and large fuel and water capacity; plus, vast amounts of space and storage, Gaia is possibly the perfect sailing/crusing yacht. The salon layout has a large folding dinette table to port with an L-shaped settee with enclosed shelves behind it. A long couch is on the starboard side with shelves, drawers, entertainment center, storage lockers and a hanging locker. In the forward starboard corner of the salon is a diesel-fired fireplace. The salon also has a large opening hatch (Bomar) with tinted plexiglass midships, as well as a smaller one over the galley. Teak decking was used in the cockpit seating area. Deck trim, toe rails and grab rails along the cabin top are varnished teak. Hatches are of the opening Bomar type and have translucent and tinted Plexiglas tops to provide additional lighting below decks. Four 5 inch stainless ventilation cowls are mounted on Dorades located three forward and one on the aft deck. The center cockpit has cushions and is fully enclosed with white canvas and roll up Isinglass side curtains. Located at the center cockpit steering station is a steering pedestal with a large stainless-steel wheel, throttle and transmission controls, navigation pods, autopilot controls, engine instruments, a remote VHF station and a large Ritchie compass.

Deck equipment includes polished stainless-steel bow and stern pulpits; polished stainless-steel stanchions and white plastic-coated lifelines with port, starboard and aft boarding gates; running lights and appropriate cleats and chocks. A folding swim ladder is provided that can be attached port or starboard. The bowsprit includes dual anchor rollers and a bobstay. The vessel is further equipped with tri-color light, masthead strobe and deck lights on the spreaders. A well-crafted fiberglass hard-top is installed over the cockpit that has integrated LED cockpit lighting, rod holders, aluminum frame and integrated ladder type stanchions aft. The hard-top can be used for sun bathing or deck storage if desired. The cockpit has large amounts of locker storage and is appointed with teak seating.
