General Builder Overview Specifications

Northwest Yachts are constructed using vinyl ester resins throughout, not just in the outer layers. Unlike polyester resins, vinyl ester resins can stretch up to 5% before fracturing. The NW45 was constructed using a uni-molding process that builds the boat with only 5 major molded components. This limits any secondary bonding and provides a much stronger integrated structure with little chance of stress cracking as there is little or no filler needed.

The interior of Emerald City is adorned with beautiful handcrafted Makre cherry wood with carpeted and newly installed Amitco flooring. The main salon is an open, bright and suprisingly very spacious, this in part thanks to vessels asymectrical deckhouse design that increased the salon overall space by probably 20-25%. Electrical

The electrical power for Emerald City is provided via both a 250/125VAC Glendinning Cablemaster system, a 125V/30A shore power inlet, Northern Lights 12kw Generator, Magnum Energy 4kw inverter/charger, the ships DC battery system and a Victron Smart-Solar charger with 4X solar panels that are installed on the flybridge deck. The AC DC power is managed through power distribution panels located in the pilothouse.

Mechancial

The engine room is accessed through a large salon floor hatch. The engine room was smartly designed to give good access to the ships machinery house in the space. A great feature is the athwartships fuel tanks that sit in for the forward section of the engine room, which has several benefits, one of which is opening up the port and starboard sides of the engine room for equipment.

Propulsion power for Emerald City is a single Cummins QSL-9 405hp diesel engine that will provide a comfortable cruise of 9-10 knots and also a hydraulic Get-Home system that drives the main shaft if the Cummins engine were inoperative.

2024 Haul out and maintenance.

Emerald City has just had a full haul out that saw complete hydraulics service ($6000+), replacement of all three battery banks with new batteries ($10,000), installation of a 740 watt solar battery bank, ($7000), and antifoul paint, zincs, and a new line cutter ($800). Paint and labor ($6000) Total – around $30,000.

Additionally, all impellers are currently being replaced, oil cooler is being replaced, and after cooler serviced. Oil and all fuel filters where recently replaced.
