42' Tanton 42 '77 "Scaramouche"
SCARAMOUCHE was originally custom-built in Maine for long distance ocean racing. After a successful racing career, the boat went through a major refit in the late 90's and early 2000's with more performance cruising in mind. A custom stern arch was added along with a new Yanmar 4-cylinder diesel and extensive updates to the galley and navigation systems. More recently SCARAMOUCHE had been cruised up and down the West coast and all over the Sea of Cortez. Here is your chance to pick up a well-built and well-equipped performance cruiser at an excellent price.
Accommodations
The beamy hull and flush deck design allows for a more spacious interior than you might expect in a boat of this size. SCARAMOUCHE can sleep up to 8 or 9 with the folding berths up.
Stepping below from the cockpit there is a single berth to port and a large double berth to starboard. The aft cabin area is separated from the galley and navigation area by a full-height bulkhead with bookshelves. There are storage cabinets above the bunks and a hanging locker on port.
Just forward on the port side, the full galley is equipped with a Princess 3-burner propane stove, a built-in freezer and refrigerator with a newer Dometic cooling unit, and a deep sink with foot pumps for fresh and salt water. There is ample storage in cabinets above the countertop.
Across from the galley on the starboard side there is an excellent sit-down nav station with a full-sized chart table. A fully enclosed head compartment is also on starboard. The engine box on the center line makes for handy extra tabletop space and there is a large sliding companionway above for quick deck access without having to go through the aft cabin to the cockpit.
Going further forward, the main cabin area has long settees on port and starboard. The backrests swing up to make upper bunks when there is a full crew onboard. There is a flat screen TV on a swing mount that stows out of the way up in the V-berth when not in use.
The extra-long V-berth/sail locker extends all the way to the bow which allows for plenty of room for sails and extra gear.
